About Us

Sole Scholars Foundation was founded in 2024 by Darryl Glover, a Sneaker Historian and Expert whose lifelong passion and career were an unlikely story, “Sneakers saved my life.” Inspired to succeed by sports legend Kobe Bryant, through the Sole Scholars Foundation, Darryl seeks to create an entity that will give back to, inspire, and empower kids who, like he once was, are part of communities where nearly 50% of families with school-aged children are low-income.

We aim to help students thrive and realize their potential despite their socioeconomic status.

Our mission is to empower K-12 students impacted by systemic inequities by providing:

  • Essential Supplies and Resources

  • Scholarships

  • Motivational Support

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, New Jersey is home to 1,368 Title I-eligible schools, meaning at least 40% of students enrolled in those respective districts are from low-income households. Every dollar donated to the Sole Scholars Foundation enables us to provide the above resources to more deserving students in the state.

“Sneakers saved my life. Kids going to school in underfunded cities need creative and unique support structures to chase their dreams. It's a different game for them, and we've got to level the playing field. ”
